Yes. It weighs 19 kg and is vehicle-mounted or carried on the shoulder or by hand. It is operational within 10 minutes from a cold start and analyses 52 volatile organic compounds in under 4 minutes.

How long does it run on battery?

Batteries are rated 2 to 4 hours each and are hot-swappable, so they can be changed without powering down and a run can continue as long as spare batteries are on hand.

What sampling modes does it support?

Direct probe, auto-switching loop, SPME, liquid injection, thermal desorption and headspace are built in. Purge and trap is available by connecting the HS-20 Portable Headspace Sampler.

Is portable GC-MS a replacement for laboratory analysis?

It is a screening tool. The Explorer 2000 gives a rapid, actionable answer at the point of sampling rather than replacing accredited laboratory analysis.
